Movement for Nigeria’s Total Transformation (MNTT)
28 July, 2015
Concerned about the recurrent and constantly deteriorating political economic and social situation in Nigeria, the Chairman of Movement for Nigeria’s Total Transformation, Chief Areoye Oyebola, developed the idea that other patriotic and concerned Nigerians must come together to frontally attack Nigeria’s complex problems and thereby totally transform our dear country. This was in 1993, shortly after the confusion and riots that followed the controversial annulment of the free and fair election believed to have been convincingly won by Bashorun MKO Abiola.
Chief Oyebola later made wide consultations with many intensely patriotic Nigerians who were ready to make the difference and six months into tyrannical rule of General Sanni Abacha, the ideas were developed into its initial memorandum.
A major encouragement was received from the Movement’s present Deputy Chairman, and Coordinator for America and the Diaspora, who travelled from the United States to Nigeria with the sole aim of discussing similar ideas with Chief Areoye Oyebola and explore the way out for our ever tottering country. He is Dr Silvanus Adetokunbo Ayeni, a famous and experienced US-based Neurosurgeon. During his first meeting with Chief Oyebola, he explained that he got the motivation to discuss the problems of Nigeria and Africa because of Chief Oyebola’s ideas in the first edition of his book, Black Man’s Dilemma published in 1976.
A major seminar was held in Ibadan by leaders from Nigeria and abroad, and the policy paper was reviewed and fine-tuned at the seminar, early in 2007. MNTT policy paper was published as One and a half page advertorial in the Guardian Newspaper of Monday, July 28, 2008. The first National meeting of the Movement’s Chairman, Vice-Chairmen, Zonal Coordinators and National Executive members from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria was held in Abuja on February 18, 2009, at the end of which a four point declaration was issued of Nigeria, and elaborate plans were made for the massive on-going mobilisation of its citizens through our Zonal and State offices in Maiduguri, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Owerri, Sapele, Benin city, Akure, Ado-Ekiti and others. On June 16, 2010, the Executive Council of leaders from Abuja, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Sapele, Ibadan and other cities, met in Abuja to plan for intensified nationwide organisation and our planned publications on the way out for Nigeria.
MNTT VISION: Transformation and Re-birth of Nigeria
GOAL: Transformation of Nigeria into a new and a medium world power in two decades, a nation where all the basic need of life and the necessary environment for maximising human potential will be available to all citizens. Re-birth of a new nation, where the rule of law, justice, fair play, peace and stability will be minimum conditions for social relations.
